Areas of Research
Researchers at the Roybal Institute conduct rigorous translational research that improves the health, mental health and care of older adultsparticularly those from low-income, multi-ethnic backgrounds. The institute maintains three complementary core areas of research, all global in scope:
- Discovery researchcentering on the development of new knowledge about the issues, problems and social conditions that affect the quality of life of older adults
- Implementation researchfocusing on the transfer of knowledge into optimal practices within health and human services agencies serving older adults
- Policy researchemphasizing sustainable improvements in the quality of life of older people and their families who are historically underserved.
