Workgroups
The Cultural Competence workgroup is dedicated to supporting the field through research and critical analysis on the advancement of cultural competence and its infusion into behavioral health and health care practice. Members of our workgroup are distinguished scholars who recognize both the promise and the problems associated with transitioning health care organizations and practitioners to a higher level of cultural competence. The workgroup is dedicated to articulating the most critical issues that must be addressed if cultural competence is to become an integral component of quality of care in the United States. These issues include the full development of theory and methods, rigorous testing of models and outcomes for improving processes of care, and successfully moving to scale in applying cultural competence principles within health care organizations.
