Doctoral candidate, Kexin Yu co-authored “Internet Use and Loneliness of Older Adults Over Time: the mediating effect of social contact” reporting on a study that examined the correlation between the internet use of older people and their loneliness levels. The UCLA loneliness scale was used to test three different items, in years 2006, 2010, and 2014 to gather data from different waves of older people and technology. Yu and co-authors found that the internet use of older people did not enhance loneliness but rather helped decrease it.
