An update from María P. Aranda, Executive Director
The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted every aspect of our lives. Following University guidelines, we have taken the necessary steps to protect the well-being of our staff, students, alumni, and community members:
- Since Tuesday March 17, we moved all of our operations remotely through April 13, 2020;
- We implemented a continuity plan for continued operations of our research activities that involves interactions remotely and virtually;
- All research that involves face-to-face contact have been suspended until further notice;
- All university-sponsored events on and off campus have been canceled or postponed through April 12, 2020 with the possibility of extending this period through May 1, 2020.
We encourage you to follow the CDC COVID-19 recommended prevention guidelines. This is particularly important for persons with chronic medical conditions, and physical frailty.
If you are at higher risk, CDC recommends that you:
- Stay at home as much as possible if COVID-19 is spreading in your community.
- Make sure you have access to several weeks of medications and supplies in case you need to stay home for prolonged periods of time. CDC has great resources to help you plan.
- When you go out in public, keep away from others who are sick, limit close contact and wash your hands often.
- Avoid crowds, especially in poorly ventilated spaces.
- Avoid cruise travel and non-essential air travel. Stay up to date on CDC Travel Health Notices.
- Plan now for what you will do if you, or people you rely on for support, become ill.
Although or faculty, students and staff work remotely, we continue to operate on behalf of older adults, persons with disabilities and their families. Our faculty scientists can be best reached via email or through our general email address uscroybal@usc.edu.
As you know, this is an unprecedented and evolving crisis that may necessitate further changes. We will keep you updated of future changes.
Stay healthy and safe.
