The Director of the USC Hartford Center of Excellence in Geriatric Social Work, Karen D Lincoln, Phd, was recently featured in Healthline, for the article Why COVID-19 is Particularly Dangerous for Older Black Americans. Lincoln addresses the historic health disparities for African American and the anticipated resistance it will precipitate among the community for coronavirus vaccinations. She further underscores the current socioeconomic living situations among the African American community and its limitations it has for members to sufficiently practice public health guidelines. Lincoln expresses her concerns regarding the disproportionate data impacting African Americans, social injustices within the healthcare profession, and the health outcomes for the community.
