USC Roybal Institute Senior Scientists Iris Chi and Vern Bengtson were listed among the top 100 most influential contemporary social work faculty determined using the H-Index, according an article published in the Journal of Social Service Research. Bengston was ranked 5th with an H-Index score of 76, while Chi was ranked 42nd with an H-Index score of 39. Former Roybal Executive Director William Vega was also ranked 10th on the list.
The h-index, also called the Hirsch index or Hirsch number, is a metric that aims to measure both the productivity and citation impact of the publications of a scholar. It is based on the set of the scientist’s most cited papers as well as the number of citations that they received in other publications.
