Karen Lincoln, an associate professor at the USC School of Social Work, director of the USC Hartford Center of Excellence in Geriatric Social Work and senior scientist at the USC Edward R. Roybal Institute on Aging, has joined the advisory board for the $7 million Adult Literacy XPRIZE.
XPRIZE is a nonprofit organization that conceives, organizes and manages public competitions to encourage technological development that aims to solve humanity’s greatest challenges.
There are 109 teams from 15 countries that will be competing for the Adult Literacy XPRIZE. The global competition will challenge teams to develop mobile software for adult learners that result in the greatest increase in literacy skills. The challenge was announced in June 2015, and a total of $7 million will be awarded by the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy and the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. Winners will be announced in June 2018.
