Performance of an Abbreviated Lubben Social Network Scale (LSNS-6) in Three Ethnic Groups of Older Asian Americans
The study analyzed the internal consistency and corrected item-total, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, and correlations of other indicators of the abbreviated Lubben Social Network Scale (LSNS-6) in three ethnic groups (Chinese 242, Koreans 150, and Vietnamese 213) of Asian Americans age 50 or older (605 participants), addressing both within- and cross-group validations. The authors indicate that LSNS-6 as viable option with older Asian Americans and highly recommend the usage of family/friend subscales to be sensitive to culture and immigration status.
