Dr. Jiaming Liang is an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Public Health. He holds a Ph.D. in Social Work from the University of Southern California, where he explored social isolation and caregiver support among aging populations. Dr. Liang’s educational background also includes a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Zhejiang University, China.
Dr. Liang’s research centers on the intersection of aging, cognitive health, family caregiving, and health disparities, with a particular focus on underserved populations. He has published extensively on the risk factors of ADRD, the stress process, and mental health among older adults and family caregivers from gender, racial/ethnic, and cultural minority backgrounds. He also explores innovative interventions, such as SoCal Savvy and Brain Health for Me (BH4Me), to address caregiver stress and improve well-being, emphasizing culturally relevant approaches to behavioral health disparities.
Dr. Liang has served as a reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals and participated in professional committees such as the Gerontological Society of America (GSA)’s Aging Among Asians Excellent Paper Award. His contributions have been recognized with awards such as the SRPP Scholar Award from the GSA and the USC Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center Minority Aging Summer Research Fellowship.
