The lecture discussed the “Elder Standard Index,” a new tool that adjusts the poverty line to a more realistic level, based on actual costs of living at the county level.

Steven P. Wallace, PhD, is a professor at the UCLA School of Public Health and an associate director at the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research. Dr. Wallace is a leading national scholar in the area of aging in communities of color. His current  research focus is healthy aging among older Californians, measuring income security for older adults, and studying access to care issues of Mexican immigrants.
